Review: Petra Kitchen ★★★★★
First of all, Petra Kitchen isn’t a restaurant. It is strictly a cooking school. I think the name, and more specifically their hours, confuse some people into believing they are a restaurant.
Secondly, it’s a great cooking school. We’ve been to over a dozen cooking schools, and this really ranks among our top experiences.
Some reasons we liked Petra Kitchen specifically:
- It was not Petra (the archeological site) related, sans the name.
- It gave us a chance to interact with the culture and gain a deeper understanding of what to eat.
- Small class size
- Great instruction from the owner
If you’re looking to learn some Middle Eastern dishes, this is the place to do it at. They seem to be me more geared for people whom are already comfortable in the kitchen, but that might have been just our class. Everyone that night seemed to be quite adept at cooking.
Over the course of a few hours we did 6 dishes; which broke down to 2 salads, 1 soup, 2 dips, and a main dish. They were all great, with a few that were standouts.
The direction throughout the class was fun and informative. It’s obviously designed for tourists, but well worth the money. On that note, don’t balk at the price. On top of having an activity for a few hours, you’re also getting an extremely great dinner.
If you enjoy cooking we highly recommend doing this class. We certainly had a great time and great meal here.
