Review: Cave Bar ★★★★★
Part of the Petra Guest House Hotel and located inside the Petra visitor’s center, right next to the museum. This is the closest you can stay to Petra, legally. Honestly, the prices don’t seem that bad for what you get. We didn’t stay, so we have no review of the hotel. We’re just throwing it out there as an option.
We did stop into the Cave Bar at partaking in Petra By Night. As noted in other write ups, Wadi Musa doesn’t have a lot going on at night. Many restaurants advertise that they are opened to 10 or 11pm, the reality is that most everywhere in town will start closing down by 8pm. The Cave Bar is no exception. It’s opened, but not really fully functional.
Close to Petra
If you’re doing Petra By Night the location is really convenient. In fact, it’s great place to stop whenever you’re coming out of Petra, since it’s right in the middle of the visitor’s center. The bar is located in an old tomb, which makes for a cool setting. It’s lit interestingly at night as well.
We arrived a little after 10pm at the bar. The staff is exceptionally kind and the manager, Jafar, let us have the salad bar gratis because we missed the kitchen. They were about to break down the bar and probably throw away what was left, so he arranged some other food for us. Really nice guy, and one of the reasons you fall in love with Jordan.
Drinks are on the pricey side, at around $10 a pop, but they are ample, and strong. Their non-alcoholic fruit cocktails are quite tasty as well. Keep in mind that most places in town don’t serve alcohol. Jordan, for all intensive purposes, is a dry country. So, if you’re looking to unwind with a cold one, this is one of the only options you have.
