Review ｜ Casa Verde ★★★★★
Casa Verde is very highly regarded by the locals, if the reviews are to be believed, with a few branches in Cebu city. This is the barbecue place in the city, with some proclaiming that they have the best ribs in the city. We were not so impressed.
We got Brian’s ribs and some appetizers; loaded potato skins and hot wings (which look like frozen food). The wings were by far the worst, but the ribs were what was really disappointing. When ribs are good, they are mind-blowing. Sadly, nothing got blown this night!
Beyond the lackluster food, presentation was also sloppy, with the experience felling more like a fast food restaurant than a proper sit down experience.
What is a standout are the amazing mango shakes, which come impregnated with an ice pop. Easily one of the best mango shakes I’ve had in my life. They are so good that we returned the next time to have another, but they were out. Buzzkill!
The design of the restaurant has a Hard Rock Cafe feel to it, and it’s nice. Unfortunately it all feels dirty, like there is a layer of grim over the tables.
I’m sorry to say that the quality of the food and the cleanliness of the restaurant as a whole were really below standards. Stop in for a mango shake, but skip having a meal here.
