Review: Salil Hotel ★★★★

The Salil Hotel is a fanatic little boutique hotel that we stayed at for a few days on an extended couples weekend. We sprang for a deluxe room, which was very stylish and bigger than we expected. We really loved the decor and atmosphere of the room. It was also situated on the top floor, so noise wasn’t really an issue. The lower floors you might encounter some street noise, as Soi 11 has become something of a party street.

The room amenities are useful. It’s nice to see a hotel giving out razors, which is kind of rare these days. Plus, there was lots of free water, juice, and popcorn in the lobby. How can you not love that?

The staff was very friendly, and quite helpful. I accidentally dropped something in a taxi, and they called the company immediately to help retrieve it. You can also expect a fairly proficient level of English from everyone working the front counter.

One complaint; the water pressure was very weak in the room we had. At times, the water would was just drip out of the shower head. On that topic, the water also didn’t get all that hot. Piping hot water is essential if you want to take advantage of the tub that is in the deluxe room.

Pricing

This hotel is more of a mid-ranged option, but still reasonably priced. A double room with an ensuite bathroom and tub set us back about $70 a night. However, this was during the peak travel time of December. Off-peak you should be able to find a room for half that price, if you are lucky.

Location

Salil is located about 500m north of Nana BTS station, on Soi 11. It’s a great location, with plenty of mid-ranged eating and drinking options. Soi 11 can get a little noisy at night these days, but it’s a vibrant area to stay in. If you’re looking for a traditional setting, something like ol’ Siam, this is not it.

Would we stay at the Salil Hotel again?

Yes. We really like the location. The staff was easy to talk to. They offer great amenities. Salil is great value for the money.
