Review | Turning Wheels Brewery ★★★★★
Turning Wheels Brewery is Cebu City’s only real craft brewery, churning out around a dozen types of beer. While drink everything they had on tap, we tried 5 different brews, and all of them were terrific. On top of the great beer, prices are not too bad as well. Most 500ml pints are priced well below ₱400, with a few high gravity beers over the ₱400 mark.
The bar itself is small, with a few tables inside the bar area and a few on an outside patio. There is no AC, but there are a few fans to keep things cool. The staff seemed pretty nice, was happy to talk about what was on tap and even gave us a few free samples to help us make our choices.
A quick side note; we had a terrible time to trying to actually find this place, and almost gave up. They are located off P. Almendras Street. Google had placed them on an adjacent road, but it looks like that error has now been corrected.
Sal’s Kitchen
Attached to the Turning Wheels Brewery is the Sal’s Kitchen appendage, which is a semi-independent business. They have their own hours, 11am – 9:30-ish pm, and they bill separately. They do seem to work in tandem, so they both get a review here.
Sal’s kind of drags down Turning Wheels. The food isn’t bad, it’s just really average. As well, the potion sizes are quite small, especially considering the prices, which far above what they should be. Craft beer can be difficult to make, burgers not so much.
Do give Turning Wheels Brewery a chance, as their beers are well made. However, don’t come hungry as Sal’s Kitchen is not worth the money.
