Review ｜ The Spirits Library ★★★★★
The Spirits Library in Makati, just west of P. Burgos Street, is the place you’ll want to go to hit the books on cocktails.
I ended up popping in here alone one night, just to check it out. It was well past 1am, but this place was still hopping. The bartenders were incredibly busy, but the staff was incredibly nice. The first thing that struck me about the space was the size. Multi-floored and really high ceilings. With the lighting it actually felt more like a club than a cocktail bar. There are some VIP rooms up top. Not sure what you have to do to get into them, but the basic experience was good enough for me.
Security was very talkative and friendly with me, and they even introduced me to the owner. I certainly liked the place, but my impression is that this isn’t a good bar to try to meet people at. Coming as a couple or in a group would be better.
The menu of cocktails on offer are in flux. They were mixing up a fat-washed Jameson whisky cocktail that was just screaming to be tried. It was really good. More buttery than one would think, but it worked well. If you’ve never had any fat-washed liquors before, you’re missing out. It’s a whole new world of cocktails out there. On that note, the Spirits Library also has a whole host of rare bottle, if you’re willing to pony up.
