Review ｜ Royal Indian Curry House ★★★★★
Royal Indian Curry House, located a short walk south of the center, is nice find for anyone who’s gotten tired of the subpar Western food and Filipino fare on offer around Walking Street.
Oddly, the neon sign outside the restaurant says ‘Rich Bistro.’ I had to confirm with the staff that I was indeed in the right place. Once that was done I was led inside to an empty restaurant. It was just me, outnumbered by the staff. I saw a few delivery drivers pick up orders, but it was mostly quiet. The street it’s on is a little dark and scary looking, so I guess most people don’t venture down this way. If you’re arriving with your own transport, there is a paid lot across the street that has a guy watching over it. It’s just a few pesos.
My food took a normal amount of time to come, with samosas and dipping sauces coming first. Then my curry, and lastly my naan showing up to the party late. One thing that’s always bugged me about Southeast Asian Indian food restaurants is they tend to be stingy with the naan. Maybe Japan has spoiled me with giant naan, which is usually all you can eat.
The food was flavorful and well spiced. The portions were big and I ended up taking 2 of the samosa home with me.
