Review: Roman Theater ★★★★

Just east of the center of the city sits the impressive 6,000 seat Roman Theater. Like many Roman theaters around the Mediterranean area, it is still in use. Unfortunate, we were not able to have the pleasure of seeing any performance here, I’m sure it would be spectacular.

You can enter the park around the theater for free, and you can see the theater from the road, as well from any number of vantage points around the city. That said, it’s still worth it to go into the theater itself, climb the steps, and drink in its history. This is by no means the first Roman Theater I’d been to. It was even the first Roman Theater we saw in Jordan. I still found it impressive and worthwhile. If you have the Jordan Pass, it’s really a no brainer. Go in and see it.

The entrance fee also includes the Folklore Museum & Museum of Popular Traditions. Neither are two extensive and shouldn’t take much time to explore. Personally, I didn’t find either that interesting, but to each their own.

Seeing how the theater is at one of the lower points of the city, it makes sense to start your day west and higher up. That way you will be headed down hill as you’re exploring and will end up at the theater.
