Review | Daily Sweet Cafe & Snow Ice Shop ★★★★★
Daily Sweet Cafe & Snow Ice Shop is a cafe severing drinks right in the heart of the Panagsama Beach area. Their claim to fame is an implied claim that the CNN include this shop or one of their desserts in an article a few years back. I cannot confirm if this is actually true or not. A rudimentary Google search resulted in no positive hits. Regardless of that, the coffees and shaved ice creations here are fantastic treats. It’s actually quite surprising that is the only place in town serving up frozen desserts like this.
To avoid beating around the bush; the star attraction here is the shaved ice. It’s well worth making the time to stop here during an afternoon to beat the heat and enjoy one of their unique creations. We actually made it a point to stop here twice, as the first we visited they were completely out of ingredients of all their shaved ice dishes. Disappointing, yes, but all a good indication that the world is out about this place.
Beyond Shaved Ice
There are a lot of coffee and caffeine inspired drinks on the menu, making this a great stop for a pre-lunch pick-me-up. Unfortunately they open a bit late in the morning to make them a breakfast option or a good place to get your first coffee of the day. Keep in mind that most visitors in Moalboal are there to do diving and water activities, which getting going early in the morning. If you do want to try something amazing, I highly recommend the Black Fashion Coffee Latte. Bitter and rich, most coffee drinkers will fall in love with this one.
They do have food on the menu, making it a viable option for lunch/dinner, but we didn’t sample anything solid here. Daily Sweet also transforms into a bar at night, with a dozen original cocktails. Sadly, we didn’t get a chance to try any of them.
The owner has also given all of the shaved ice bowls and some of their cocktails creative names, like ‘tears of a mermaid’ and ‘first crush.’ While this doesn’t change the taste of them, of course, it’s nice to see the creativity they put into their creations. A creativity that clearly extended from the kitchen to the menu.
