Hotel Review | Red Planet Angeles City ★★★★★
The Red Planet Angeles City hotel is a budget hotel and to talk about the elephant in the room right away; it is located a fair distance from Walking Street (about 2km). This might a plus for you or a huge negative. I was actually quite happy to be far away from the noise and drunken buffoonery of the red light district. That said, it got a bit tedious going back and forth mainly because there aren’t any restaurants or bars near by, sans a few places to pick up working girls. On the plus side, there’s a 7-11 almost right next to the hotel, so getting supplies like water is no problem.
Since this is a budget hotel, don’t expect much in the way of amenities, however they boast about there incredible WiFi, which is actually one of the main reason I choose to stay here. Sadly, it didn’t live up to the hype and I ended up having to rely on my local SIM card to get work done.
The staff were really nice though and all my interactions with them were pleasant. If only the rest of the hotel was as nice as them.
A Hotel In Need of Maintenance
The overall general maintenance of the hotel is questionable. There are only two elevators for the hotel, which has over 80 rooms spread out on ten floors. On top of that, there isn’t a service elevator for the staff to use to do their cleaning, etc. The second day I was there, one of the elevators broke and for the rest of my time there we all sharing one elevator. It was pretty inconvenient as there were just too many people jockeying to use the elevator. Waiting over five minutes to get up to your floor was kind of the norm.
The room care was even worse. The first thing I noticed were how scuffed up the walls were in both rooms I stayed in. It doesn’t take much to slap on some fresh paint every few years. I also had to change rooms. The first one I was given had a terrible leak in the bathroom from the toilet. The floor was pretty much swamped.
Not Worth It
I wouldn’t stay again here, or at any Red Planet (it’s a chain) because I feel a bit cheated by their claim of fast WiFi. Unfortunately, the location, lack of amenities, and poor condition of the rooms just doesn’t equal the price being asked. For you get, it’s not worth the price. However, if you do decide to stay, join their free member’s program will net you some saving if you book directly with them.
