Review | Pintô Art Museum ★★★★★
The Pintô Art Museum and Arboretum, which opened in 2010, is a contemporary art museum complex located a bit outside of the Manila (in a city 16km east named Rizal). Public transportation there is lacking, but for those that make the journey, they will be in for a real treat.
The museum consists of six buildings and stands on a huge swath of land overlooking the surrounding metropolitan area. The complex houses some gigantic modern art pieces outside, while multiple buildings (I believe they are six now, with a seventh on the way) showcase contemporary art and indigenous art. Do note, none of the buildings are air conditioned.
The museums lush and natural location in a forest on a mountainside makes it a peaceful place to stroll around for the day and reset your chi. You might even see a few peacocks roaming around. Spending the day is easy, as there are onsite cafes and restaurants. Though, I do recommend bringing at least a liter of water with you and some snack food to nibble on.
The easiest way to get there is to just pony up the money for a taxi. During my visit I was able to go one way, an hour drive from Makati, for ₱400. If you’re dead set on doing it by public transportation, get ready to transfer from jeepney to jeepney a lot.
