Review: My Mom’s Recipe ★★★★★
The first restaurant we visited when we arrived in Wadi Musa was My Mom’s Recipe. After checking into our hotel and cleaning up, we headed there for dinner.
We arrived just after 8:30pm and the place looked empty. We were surprised by this, but we quickly learned that there isn’t much of a night scene in Jordan. When the sun goes down, people go home and go to bed.
My Mom’s Recipe Restaurant has a great layout that is spread over three floors. We didn’t see all of the floors, as we had missed their busy time. There is a large patio on the outside of the restaurant. If the weather is pleasant and there is space, this is where you should opt to eat.
Being that they cater to tourists, probably exclusively, there are menus in a few languages and the staff does speaking English.
Service was quick and soon after being seated the owner was at our table welcoming us. He offered us free starters, which was incredibly generous.
Our meals arrive after a very short wait. One of our dishes came with fries instead of rice, which we asked the server about. The owner interjected and insisted we have both, even though we said it was really quite alright. Just one example of the incredibly high level of hospitality here.
Mains are around 10JD, so expect to pay around 16JD per person here when you factor in drinks and side dishes. You can’t go wrong with anything they say is fresh. We had the fresh guava juice, and it was nothing short of AMAZING!
We really can’t recommend this restaurant enough. Make time to eat here, you won’t be sorry.
