Review | Commune ★★★★★
Commune could very well be the best café in Manila, if not one of the best, not just in the Philippines, but in Asia. That might sound a touch hyperbolic, but this place just does everything outstanding well, right down to the friendly café cat. I make it a point to drop into this homely café at least once every day I’m in Manila.
Using locally produced beans, the coffee is on point and reason enough to go out of your way (if you’re not staying in Makati) to visit this little slice of heaven. Expect full body coffees with notes of chocolate, nuts, and caramel naturally occurring in their java. Just as good, their sweets and food selections. I really feel in love with their peanut butter chocolate cookies, which they serve to customers warm.
They have indoor seating on the first floor, but the sun can really blast all the seats by thee windows. There’s a second floor with indoor and outdoor seating. Finding a comfortable place to sit shouldn’t be a problem.
Commune also opens at 8am, well before a lot of other cafes and places to eat, which makes them a fantastic option for breakfast.
They have beans for sale, near the entrance, both whole and ground. They make a great gift or just something nice for yourself. I usually bring home a half kilo.
