Review ｜ Cockhouse Bar ★★★★★
The Cockhouse bar is kind of “the bar” in Laoag city. Before arriving it was the drinking establishment I could find information about online. Just a heads up, it is not the only place to drink in Laoag. That begin said, it has the best of any bar in the area. Major points for that.
Filipinos love live music and most bands around the country do a great job of replicating the big rock hits from Western music. Lots of 80s music. If that’s what you’re into, than you will be entertained. With that said, there is one major caveat.
➣The BIGGEST Scam in the Philippines
The Cockhouse is big and opened, with lots of tables and seats. VIP tables line the premier of the floor and are available for an additional fee. I did ask about the cost of the table, and got a lot of wishy-washy answers. When I inquired about the price I was told that “it depends.” On what, I was never told. Generally, you should expect to pay around ₱5,000 ($100). This price is consumable, so it will go towards the cost of your drinks and food.
Weekends can be hard to get a seat and even on a weekday the place really fills by 10pm. So, best to come early if you want to sit.
Expect to see a house band fronted by a few different singing troupe. These singing troupes typically have one guy and about eight women that are swapping the singing duties. Allegedly, these female entertainers are “available.” I saw them being plied with drinks at the VIP tables between sets.
