Review ｜ Pineapple Coast ★★★★★
Pineapple Coast is the place to head for dinner if you’re looking for authentic Mexican food in Angeles City. Located a few kilometers west from the tourist center (in a more local friendly area), this is the place to go to get away from the touts and working girls.
The staff is very friendly and incredibly professional, which is a very welcomed change from some of the restaurants in the more touristy areas of the city. This type of top notch service comes at a price though. The service and the quality of the food does justify the price. They also do some original cocktails, which sadly I didn’t try because I was driving. It is a nice touch, and something I would go back and try.
Fair warning; the inside is fairly tiny, with just a handful of tables and a couple of places to sit at the bar. There are some outside tables, but I can’t see those be a pleasant experience because of the dim lighting, high traffic out front, and the uncomfortable weather. I didn’t see anyone using these tables when I dined there. For that reason, I would recommend making a reservation for an inside table, or be prepared to wait. Since I was dining alone, the bar was fine for me.
Also, the restaurant might be a little hard to find for first timers. I knew the area a bit because I’ve been to other restaurants around there (it’s right next to Rasoi Indian Restaurant, which is another great place to eat), but I could not exactly find the actual location. I asked a security guard and he literally pointed right at the restaurant, but I still couldn’t find it. The main issue is the restaurant’s sign is painted vertically on the side and isn’t lit well enough at night. Once you know where it is, it’s not an issue. If you’re coming at night, you might need to ask around like I did and possible feel stupid for a few minutes. On the plus side, you will be rewarded a very authentic meal.
Outstandingly clean and interesting restrooms to boot, which is always a plus.
I would certainly go back again to Pineapple Coast. For Mexican food in Angeles City, this should be your first choice.
