Review | Khao Khai ★★★★★
Khao Khai Thai Chicken House is a regional chain restaurant in the Manila area, which is something I didn’t realize until I started writing this review. I am only familiar with this restaurant from seeing the the one that’s hidden away in the back streets of Makati. They do Thai food, obviously, they feel a bit more family style, so expect big plates that you’ll share with people. so portions are really big and the prices are very fair for what you get.
Unfortunately, I didn’t thing food was very tasty. To be clear, it’s not that tasted bad. More like bland, and not at all like what food from that area of the world should be like. It lacked that Thai punch of flavors; sweet, salty, spicy, vinegary, sour, etc. etc. No one does Thai food like Thailand. Either there are too many ingredient substitutions because of the difficulty/price of getting the right stuff or the cooks don’t care. Either way, diners with more discerning pallets will be left with with a bad taste.
I suppose if you’re looking for a cheap place that serves a lot of food, this fits the bill. If you’re aiming for something with high quality, give this place a miss. There are plenty more fantastic places to eat at in the Makati area.
