Review: Morwing Hotel Fairytale ★★★★★
If there’s anything to say about the Morwing Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, it’s that it’s an interesting place to stay, décor-wise. Rooms that don’t have windows, or much spare space, would otherwise be considered a dreary offering, Morwing does something special with the space. They have turned the floors and the rooms into fairy tale themes and it really works. If you were wondering, each floor has a different motif, making a walk through the hotel a fun little journey.
To be crystal clear, this isn’t a luxury hotel. It’s a budget offering, but it does this in style. The amenities on offer are just enough to keep the average guest happy, with free WiFi, water, coffee, and umbrellas.
Morwing also gets high marks for the cleanliness of the common areas and guests’ rooms. Though we only have our room to cite as an example. It was very clean and well maintained.
The staff does speak some English, but communication was a little difficult. I tried to phrase everything as simple as possible, but my requests were often misunderstood. The staff also had a hard time answering general questions in English like, where can I find an ATM. They were all very nice though.
The Morwing Hotel is a Budget Option. What do you Expect?
The Morwig Hotel Fairytale does have their own website, but it’s quite cumbersome to use (as of 2021). You have to e-mail them with your requests and wait to see if you can book. You’ll be far better off booking through a third party site. To make things easier for you, here are some direct links on Agoda and Expedia. You should also have no problem finding them listed on most other booking sites as well.
As mentioned, this is a budget hotel, so expect reasonable prices. A double room with an ensuite bathroom set us back around $40 a night.
The hotel is located within a short walk of Taipei Station, so it’s an ideal place to stay if you’re planning to leave the city to explore other parts of the country.
One minor drawback is that the hotel is a little hard to find the first time. It’s tucked away on a back road.
Would we stay again?
Yes. The room decors are fun, it’s clean, the location is good, especially if you want to stay near the main train station, and the price is fair.
